Our training

Maximum of 8 students per course per day

Stage 1

The course include

  • Over 10 hours of learning & training;
  • Reference manual for the student;
  • Course certificate;
  • Classroom instruction and in the area of the shooting ranges;
  • Email follow-up if needed;
  • Possibility to do the Stage 2;
  • Insurance coverage for others;
  • Emergency air medical transport (province of Quebec only);
  • Small groups (max 8) to maintain the highest possible quality of teaching.
Stage 1 Modules
  • Module 1: Bolt action rifle used for long distance shooting;
  • Module 2: Bolt action rifle functions and overview of internal and external ballistics;
  • Module 3:Understanding how your scope works and its units measurement;
  • Module 4: Wind & spinning drift;
  • Shooting range part of the course.

Stage 2

The course include

  • 1 day of instruction in class (8 am to 4 pm);
  • 1 day of training at the shooting range (8 am to 4 pm);
  • Student’s manual (90 pages);
  • Course certificate;
  • Course trophy;
  • Accessibility to all additional days;
  • Email follow-up if needed;
  • Insurance coverage for others;
  • Emergency air medical transport (province of Quebec only);
  • Small groups to maintain the highest possible quality of teaching.
Stage 2 Modules
  • Module 1: Ballistic curve and change of impact point related to a specific situation;
  • Module 2: Unique ballistic characteristics of a bullet and how to choose the appropriate one;
  • Module 3: Introduction to Hand Reloaded Ammunition;
  • Module 4: Fabrication of a ballistic elevation and wind table (advanced level);
  • Module 5: Equipment adapted to the practice of long distance shooting (extended long range), and advanced use of a spotting scope;
  • Module 6: Estimating and wind reading;
  • Module 7: Mental and equipment preparation for long distance shooting;
  • Module 8: Long distance shooting in teams of two (shooter and observer);
  • Module 9: Shooting range.

Why Long Range Academy?

Long Range Academy is a shooting school operating in the province of Quebec. This school specialized in long range shooting offers a professional level of training in both official languages of Canada.

Long Range Academy is the result of the fusion of Long Range Hunter and Longshot Shooting School. The instructor, Michael Desrosiers, is a former sniper of the Canadian armed forces, with among other things, has an overseas training (France).
